Dracula dalstroemii
Dracula dalstroemii
Dracula dalstroemii has beautiful, round, large brown flowers with a light center in the middle of the flower. A special feature of this species is certainly that the flowers grow upright. This impressive species is named after its Swedish discoverer Stig Dalström, who discovered it in northwestern Ecuador in 1983.
General information
General information
In nature, Dracula mainly grows in the cloud forests of the Andes in Central and South America. They like a shady spot and never want to be in direct sunlight (no surprise given the name Dracula, right?). Like many orchids, they grow as epiphytes and bloom once or twice a year. So you can't go wrong with these mystical beauties at home!
care instructions
care instructions
Our Dracula plants come in a special hanging pot that allows plenty of air to reach the roots but is also easy to keep moist. The substrate (sphagnum moss) should never dry out completely, as the Dracula prefers high humidity. In the months from March to October, a little weakly concentrated orchid fertilizer can be added to the water from time to time. The Dracula should be repotted every 2 to 3 years, or the substrate should be renewed.
